Chico, Calif. (August 1, 2016) – Bella Sun Luci, a line of premium Mediterranean-inspired products created from authentic family recipes, has announced the winners of its sixth annual recipe contest. The grand prize winner, Shauna Havey was awarded a $2,500 cash prize for her mouthwatering Mediterranean Chicken Tacos with Sun Dried Tomato Crema. Like all of the contestants, Shauna’s original award-winning dish featured at least one Bella Sun Luci Sun Dried Tomato product as a key ingredient.
“This year’s competition brought hundreds of delicious recipes but Shauna’s Mediterranean Chicken Tacos stood out amongst the rest. One reason was that Shauna not only used Bella Sun Luci Sun Dried Tomatoes in her recipe, she used them in every step of her recipe! This made for a flavor explosion when biting into the tacos,” says Mooney Farms’ Corporate Chef, Richard Hirshen. “From the chicken, to the crema, to the toppings, this dish was full of the rich and robust flavors of sun dried tomatoes.”
Bella Sun Luci also named second and third place winners, who won a $500 cash prize and a deluxe gourmet Bella Sun Luci gift basket, respectively. Mary Hawkes placed 2nd with her Mediterranean Potato Pancetta Cakes Topped with Fried Eggs and Sun Dried Tomato Chimichurri and Marie Rodriguez was the 3rd Place Prize Winner with her Mediterranean Chicken Roulade.
The 2016 Bella Sun Luci Recipe Contest ran from August 1 through July 1. In addition to the prizes, all winners will be featured on the Bella Sun Luci website and social media platforms. Entries are now being accepted for the 2017 recipe contest, which will run until July 1, 2017.
