STAMFORD, Conn. (May 15, 2018) – Today, Saffron Road, a leading brand in the natural and organic products industry, unveiled its latest innovation, Japanese-inspired Noodle Bowls made with long-simmered deeply flavorful bone or vegetable broth. Varieties include Shoyu Ramen Bowl with Chicken, Sesame Ginger Udon Bowl with Chicken, Tan Tan Ramen Bowl with Chicken and a Vegetable Tan Tan Bowl with Tofu.
These new easy-to-prepare dishes can be heated in just a few minutes by using either a microwave or on the stove top with the addition of just ½ cup of water.
Bone broths are found in culinary traditions throughout the world, but Saffron Road’s next stop on the Journey to Better transports the food-inspired to Japan’s famous noodle houses. Each Saffron Road recipe showcases authentic ramen or udon noodles complemented by rich broth and traditional ingredients like white miso, freshly ground ginger, shitake mushrooms and hearty bok choy.
Bone Broths differ from soups and simple broths in that they are typically made with bones with a little meat still on them and simmered for a very long period of time, anywhere from 8 to more than 24 hours which makes them rich in protein, nutrient-dense, easy to digest, and soothing in flavor. Nutrition researcher, Sally Fallon of the Weston A. Price Foundation, reported that bone broths contain minerals such as calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and glucosamine in forms that your body can more easily absorb than from supplements, and has long touted their magic ‘cure-all’ type benefits. Therefore, and not surprisingly, bone broths have become a staple in active, healthy eating, in particular they are a mainstay in the very popular Paleo diet, and according to SPINSscan 52 Weeks End 2018-Feb-25, Bone Broth products are on the rise, showing 83.4% growth year over year and are now a $48.3 million market.*
All of these new Noodle Bowls meet Saffron Road’s highest standard of clean-label halal and are free of yeast extracts and MSG. Additionally, the three chicken varieties are made with antibiotic-free chicken and the fourth, a tofu that is Non-GMO Project Verified.
“Saffron Road brings the booming trend of upscale Ramen to the freezer aisle,” says Chef John Umlauf, Senior Vice President of Culinary Operations. “Made with classic ingredients, richly simmered bone (or vegetable) broth, and carefully formed noodle nests, these recipes showcase some of the most popular flavors found on the ‘ramen scene’ today.”
These new Bowls will be line priced with Saffron Road’s other frozen entrees at $4.99 and are launching later this month in the freezer aisles at Sprouts Farmers Market and Lucky’s Market.
