COLAVITA OPENS NORTHERN CALIFORNIA DISTRIBUTION AND PRODUCTION FACILITY

January 2016, Edison, NJ – Colavita USA, a national leader in the specialty food industry, is proud to announce its acquisition of a distribution and production facility in the Northern California city of Dixon. This second U.S. home for the company will immediately serve as a distribution hub for the west coast market, expanding its reach in the retail, foodservice and export channels.

In the latter half of 2016, Colavita will also begin local production of Californian extra virgin olive oil at its new facility, which will cater to the growing demand for locally-sourced products, continuing to add to Colavita’s extensive line of premium quality, worldwide-sourced oils.

The city of Dixon is located in Solano County, which is adjacent to the well-renowned Central Valley and Napa Valley growing regions.  This location will make fresh, high quality, locally-sourced extra virgin olive oil more readily available.  Napa Valley is also home to the Culinary Institute of America, an institution that Colavita has a long-established relationship with and continuously supports.

The choice of location was also based on several important logistical factors to Colavita’s overall expansion strategy, including Dixon’s close proximity to two major interstate highways (I-80, I-5) as well as to the Port of Oakland and trans-modal rail depots. Colavita’s Dixon home will serve as the central location for distribution throughout Northern and Southern California, into the Northwest States, and points east into the Mountain States and west to Hawaii and Asia.

The Dixon facility will house a large selection of the Colavita product portfolio and will have custom production capabilities for expanding distribution of its olive oil and blended oil items for the food service industry.

To match our well-established sustainability efforts of using renewable energy on the east coast, a state-of-the-art solar panel project will be implemented to power all operations at the west coast Dixon facility, making it completely energy independent.
