NONA LIM WINS GOLD SOFI AWARD IN SOUP CATEGORY
Award is the brand’s 5th in 6 years for its innovative fresh Asian packaged foods

OAKLAND, CA (August 25, 2020)Nona Lim’s Spicy Chicken Ramen Bone Broth has won the gold award in the Soup category as part of the Specialty Food Association’s (SFA) 2020 sofi™ Awards, a top honor in the $158 billion specialty food industry. This is the 5th sofi™ Award in 6 years which Nona Lim has won for its fresh Asian comfort food since the brand’s launch in 2014.

The Spicy Chicken Ramen Bone Broth was one of 148 winners selected by a panel of specialty food experts from nearly 2,000 entries across 39 product categories. Products are judged on taste, including flavor, appearance, texture and aroma, ingredient quality and innovation. All tastings are blind. This year, for the first time, sofi judging was held at the prestigious Rutgers Food Innovation Center following strict safety guidelines.

The latest addition to Nona Lim’s broth lineup represents the brand’s commitment to delivering innovative products that are at the leading edge of consumer trends and evolving tastes.

“We are honored to win another sofi Award,” says Nona Lim, founder and CEO. “With ramen continuing to trend I wanted to create a delicious broth to pair with our Traditional Ramen noodles. Winning this award so quickly is one of the ultimate stamps of approval.”

The Japanese tonkotsu-inspired bone broth comes in a 20 oz pouch and is made with clean label ingredients such as organic chicken, miso, and sake. With restrictions and reduced service at many restaurants due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, consumers are looking for easy and delicious meal

solutions that they can cook at home. Consumers can pair the slightly spicy, creamy yet complex, umami-packed broth with Nona Lim’s fresh Traditional Ramen and the toppings of their choice for quick restaurant-quality ramen bowls at home. The Spicy Chicken Ramen Bone Broth can be purchased separately or as part of a Spicy Chicken Ramen Night Kit from www.nonalim.com. The broth is also available at national and regional retailers such as Walmart and GoodEggs.com.

“I’d like to congratulate Nona and her team for winning another sofi Award,” says SFA Interim President Bill Lynch. “In some ways I’m not surprised, as Nona is considered to be a tastemaker when it comes to fresh Asian foods. Nona Lim is also a great example of what the SFA is all about – exciting consumers and expanding retail offerings with great products.”

The sofi Awards are open to members of the Specialty Food Association, a not-for-profit trade association with specialty food industry members across the U.S. The awards have been given each year since 1972.
