Fruit of the Land’s Kurtz Orchards Asiago Bread Topper Honored

Distinctive Holiday Gift Produced at Family Farm

TORONTO (Oct. 20, 2020) – Fruit of the Land’s Kurtz Orchards Asiago Bread Topper, a zesty condiment that offers a quick and easy way to liven up appetizers or a simple meal, has won a 2020 sofi Silver Award for outstanding condiment, dressing or marinade from the Specialty Food Association.

“This award shows that our Kurtz Orchards condiments are striking a chord with food lovers and industry insiders too,” says Stacey Kurtz, Fruit of the Land’s co-founder. “Our topping, made from fresh ingredients, is delicious on a baguette and a tasty addition to pasta, pizza, fish or appetizer platters. It makes for an excellent hostess gift or treat for your friends or family.”

Fruit of the Land, an importer, distributor and producer of specialty foods founded in 2003, is seeking to expand the U.S. distribution of its Kurtz Orchards line, which includes such items as Artichoke Spinach Tapenade and Peach & Red Pepper Jelly. Kurtz Orchards grows its own ingredients and makes its products at a family-owned farm and specialty food manufacturing facility in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada, known as the Napa of Canada.

The Asiago Bread Topper, made from hand-cut, locally-produced Asiago cheese, herbs, spices and grapeseed oil, is available online at fruitoftheland.com and at Fruit of the Land’s three retail shops in Ontario, as well as other gourmet stores. The suggested retail price is $19.99 U.S.  The Kurtz Orchards line also boasts an Ontario Premier’s Award for Agri-Food Innovation Excellence.  It will soon be available at select U.S. specialty stores.

Fruit of the Land specializes in farm-fresh specialty products from Canada and Israel. Its family of exclusive, award-winning brands include Kurtz Orchards, Beit Yitzhak Fruit Spreads, Tishbi Wine & Fruit Preserves, Ein Harod Honeys, Ceremonie Tea and Fruit of the Land.  “Our tapenades, dips and jams help home cooks add flair to their food with little effort,” says Kurtz, a cosmetics executive turned food entrepreneur.

The Asiago condiment is one of 148 winners selected by a panel of specialty food experts from nearly 2,000 entries across 39 product categories. A sofi Award is a top honor in the $158 billion U.S. specialty food industry. Products are judged on taste, appearance, texture and aroma, ingredient quality and innovation. All tastings are blind.

Fruit of the Land also won a 2020 sofi Gold Award for its Avocado Honey Blossom Cake, made with almost a full jar of its Ein Harold Pure Raw Avocado Blossom Honey, a sofi winner in 2017. In all, the company has taken home seven sofi Awards from the Specialty Food Association, the largest trade association in North America for specialty food importers, manufacturers and entrepreneurs.
